Was it a stock head unit?
My one friend so jury-rigged his that it was inoperable if removed from the dash, so whoever bought it off the theif got hosed. YOu still loose a stereo though =(
I always thought one rigged up to release a capacitor full of a few thousand volts on removal would be a fun toy. Enough to knock them down for a few seconds to make them think twice.
Ingenious.
